FAQ

Frequently asked insurance questions

Helpful answers for clients comparing coverage options.

What types of insurance does Avaya Insurance Services offer?

Avaya Insurance Services provides Auto, Home, Business, Life, Medicare and Marketplace Health Insurance guidance. Which of these we're licensed to offer depends on your state — see the next question for details.

In which states are you licensed, and for which types of insurance?

Licensing varies by state and insurance type:

  • Texas (our home state): all insurance types — Auto, Home, Business, Life, Medicare and Marketplace Health Insurance.
  • California: Life, Marketplace Health and Medicare Insurance.
  • Kansas and Delaware: Life and Marketplace Health Insurance.

We're actively working to expand our licensing to more states and product lines. If you're outside Texas and interested in Auto, Home or Business coverage, or Medicare outside Texas and California, reach out anyway — we're happy to point you in the right direction.

What does it mean to be an independent insurance agency?

An independent agency is not limited to only one insurance company. This allows the agency to help clients compare different coverage options based on their needs.

Do you charge fees for your services?

In most cases, no. Independent agencies like ours are typically compensated by the insurance carriers we place coverage with, not by our clients. If a situation ever involves a cost to you, we'll tell you upfront before any work begins.

Is there a fee to request a quote?

There is no cost to request a quote. Contact Avaya Insurance Services directly with your insurance needs.

Can you help me compare auto and home insurance together?

Yes, in Texas — that's currently where we're licensed for Auto and Home Insurance. We can help review coverage options and discuss potential bundling opportunities when available. In California, Kansas and Delaware we're not yet licensed for Auto or Home coverage, but feel free to reach out and we'll let you know as that changes.

Do you help with small business insurance?

Yes, in Texas — that's currently where we're licensed for Business Insurance. We can help business owners explore coverage options such as general liability, property coverage, commercial auto and other business-related insurance needs. This isn't yet available in California, Kansas or Delaware, but we're happy to hear from you regardless.

Can you help with life insurance?

Yes. Life Insurance is one of our core product lines, and we're licensed to offer it in all four states we currently serve — Texas, California, Kansas and Delaware. We can help you compare term and permanent life insurance options based on your goals, budget and family needs.

Can you help with Medicare insurance options?

Yes — we can assist clients in Texas and California, which are the states where we're currently licensed for Medicare insurance. We can help review Medicare-related options, including Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement (Medigap), and prescription drug plan considerations. We're also actively working on securing Medicare licensing in Kansas, Delaware, and additional states as we expand our service areas.

When can I enroll in Medicare or change my Medicare plan?

Medicare enrollment depends on your eligibility and timing. Initial enrollment occurs around your 65th birthday, and changes can be made during the Annual Enrollment Period or other qualifying periods. We can help you understand which window applies to you.
Please note that certain Medicare enrollments — such as Prescription Drug Plans (PDP) — can carry lifelong penalties if not completed on time. It’s important to review your options before your 65th birthday, and we can help educate you on the rules so you avoid any unnecessary penalties.

Can you help with Marketplace Health Insurance?

Yes. Avaya Insurance Services is licensed for Marketplace Health Insurance in all four states we currently serve — Texas, California, Kansas and Delaware — and can help individuals and families explore health insurance options available through the Marketplace.

When can I enroll in Marketplace Health Insurance?

Marketplace enrollment is available during the annual Open Enrollment Period, or during a Special Enrollment Period if you've experienced a qualifying life event such as losing coverage, moving, marriage or having a child. We can help determine which applies to your situation.

Can you help me understand deductibles, premiums and coverage limits?

Yes. We can explain how each of these affects your policy cost and protection, and help you compare options so you can choose the right balance for your needs.

Can you review my existing insurance policies?

Absolutely. We can review your current policies, identify gaps or overlaps, and help you compare alternatives — even if your existing coverage is with another agency.

Do you assist with insurance claims or claim-related questions?

Yes. While claims are handled directly by the insurance carrier, we can help you understand the process, provide guidance on what to expect, and assist with communication if you need support.

Can you help me find budget-friendly insurance options?

Yes. We can compare plans across multiple carriers to help identify cost-effective options while still maintaining appropriate coverage.

What information should I prepare before requesting a quote?

It depends on the coverage type. Helpful details may include current policy information, driver details, property details, business information or health coverage needs. Do not submit sensitive information through the website contact form.

Do you offer virtual appointments or phone consultations?

Yes. We offer phone consultations and virtual meetings for clients who prefer remote assistance or live outside our fully licensed states.
